Inspired by nature, Joann Y Wheeler prefers to paint or draw flowers & animals. Her favorite mediums are colored pencil, watercolor, & pastel which can be found on anything from her agenda margins to art paper. In 1986 she was introduced to the world of porcelain art and in 2009 Joann began working in egg tempera as she felt drawn to painting religious icons. Studying under an professional master iconographer in the Washington DC area she continues writing icons to this day. Most days Joann can be found in her studio brush in hand. Joann has never been afraid of a challenge or a new medium. You never know what she will get into as evidenced by recently delving into alcohol ink as a new painting medium. She is a member of the China Painting Artists of Maryland, she resides in Pasadena, MD.
